These Columbia homeowners wanted a luxury, one-of-a-kind kitchen and the ultimate home bar for entertaining. Read what they had to say about our work.
Verified Google 5 Star Review from the Homeowner:
I cannot say enough great things about our experience with Dimensions in wood. Not only were the DIW staff professional but their artistry and craftsmanship was second to none. Our process started with Maryann giving us a design that checked every box plus some. We were looking for a way to separate our kitchen from the living room and breakfast area while maintaining the open concept. What Maryanne designed was beyond what I even thought was possible. After the design, the install team took over and again, the quality of the work and the attention to detail was exceptional. Adam led the construction effort and was the picture of patience as he listened to our endless questions and on-the-fly changes. Darren installed the cabinets, was extremely friendly and obviously took great pride in his work – it shows. As the project began to draw to a close, we became close personal friends with Jim who took care of all of the final details and made sure everything was perfect! I know I haven’t mentioned everyone who worked on our project but suffice to say that they were all great. We could not be happier with the end product! On a side note, we have lived through a difficult remodel with a different company and I would be remiss if I did not mention that the DIW team made the entire process extremely easy. They started by providing bins to store all of our kitchen and bar items while the remodel took place. They then began work and kept the cleanest work site I have ever seen. DIW installed the kitchen sink and had temporary counter tops installed while the quartzite was being templated and cut, so we experienced only minor inconvenience during the entire remodel process. The fact that we were able to use our kitchen during the several weeks we had to wait for the counter tops was great. Our overall experience was great. The quality of the cabinetry and the professionalism of the staff are second to none! I highly recommend Dimensions in Wood.
Dark Cherry Coffered Ceiling
A custom, dark cherry, coffered ceiling was built by our master woodworkers. The homeowner wanted to make each room feel separate without sacrificing sight lines. We were able to separate the kitchen from the living and dining rooms without boxing in the home’s open concept by dropping beams at the boundary of the space and filling the center with a coffered ceiling. We completed the space by finishing the outer perimeter of the ceiling with crown molding that matched the home’s existing molding.
Factory Cabinets with Custom Touches
Bridgewood Cabinets were used throughout the kitchen with custom elements. Bridgewood cabinetry is made in the USA from the highest quality materials and are an alternative when custom cabinets do not fit the budget. These cabinets are flexible enough to meet most budgets, but custom enough to meet almost any design.
All the cabinet drawers and doors are soft close to prevent slamming which every kitchen needs. Beside the refrigerator is a pantry with adjustable, pull out drawers which can be customized to fit any storage needs.
A Lemans II Blind Corner Unit gives easy access and storage in the kitchen’s deep, corner cabinet.
Another unique feature of this kitchen is the beadboard backsplash on either side of the range and in the custom arched nook over the refrigerator.
Four Zone TASK LED Lighting
With such a dark stain on the kitchen cabinets and with the coffered ceiling, the homeowner was concernced about the kitchen feeling too dark. We installed TASK LED lighting with 4 separate zones to illuminate everything. Strips of LEDs can be controlled separately under the upper cabinets, in the plate arch, around the island and beneath the lower cabinets. The homeowner loves using the floor lights for soft illumation at night.
Recessed can lights were also installed in the kitchen’s coffered ceiling, in the living room, dining room and over the custom bar. The homeowner liked the pendant lights over the island so these were kept original. A new light which matched the other fixtures was also added to the breakfast area.
TASK LEDs can also be connected to smart home appliances like Google Home or Alexa, allowing you to control your home’s lighting with just your voice.
10 Foot Custom Island with Tons of Storage
This large island was custom built with round columns on all four corners and lots of storage. The island’s Quartzite countertop contrasts beautifully with the dark cabinets and the same stone was used for the oven’s backsplash.
On either end of the island, two shallow cabinets were custom built to maximize storage and avoid wasted space. One was fitted with pegboard for BBQ utensils while the other has shelves for extra spice storage.
A 5 foot Stainless Steel Galley Workstation provides the ultimate food preparation, washing, and even serving space. The Galley is filled by a Moen Stainless Steel Gantry Faucet. Then a separate drinking water tap is connected to a Hague Reverse Osmosis (RO) water filtration system. To keep the island sleek and clean, an air switch was installed to operate the garbage disposal in the countertop by the sink.
Power outlets were installed on both sides of the island. These come in especially handy when the KitchenAid mixer is lifted to counter height by the handy Rev-A-Shelf Heavy Duty Mixer Lift Shelf. Luxurious and useful, the mixer shelf keeps countertops clean and organized by tucking a large mixer into a cabinet with storage space to spare.
Custom Vent Hood over 6 Burner Gas Range
The home owner was happy with their original stainless steel Zephyr vent hood but DIW’s master cabinetmakers built a custom vent hood cover to perfectly match the cabinets. With touch controls on the front of the Zephyr we also added an easy open door for access. Gas pistons hold the door open and allow for a soft close.
The 48″ Thermador Range features 6 gas burners, a griddle and two ovens. For easy accessibility a Delta Pot filler was installed over the range through the Quartzite backsplash.
The Thermador stainless steel dishwasher cleans everything up after the party is over.
Finally a counter depth stainless steel Frigidaire Professional Series refrigerator was used to sit flush with the cabinets.
We Make It Easy to Live through a Renovation
The homeowners were incredibly happy with the Dimensions In Wood Team which you can read in their review above.
After living through a previous remodel with a differnet contractor, they said the DIW team kept the cleanest work and job space they had ever seen. We brought in temporary countertops so the homeowners could continue to live in their home and use the kitchen during the remodel. We also supplied plastic bins to store kitchen stuff during the remodel. DIW works hard to make the entire renovation experience as enjoyable as possible.
Custom Home Bar in the Living Room
In addition to this home’s beautiful kitchen, the homeowners also wanted the ultimate home bar for entertaining. The entire bar was custom built in walnut. The bar countertops and backsplash were cut from the granite in the original kitchen, reused to prevent waste.
A slanted wine shelf provides extra bottle storage in addition to the Summit 2 zone wine fridge. This high-end, dual-zone refrigerator allows for storing red and white wines at different temperatures. A second Summit beverage refrigerator keeps other drinks cool. Custom wood frames were built and stained to keep the cabinets uniform.
A Summit kegerator will connect two craft beer size kegs or one big keg. The keg taps sit over top of the kegs and the granite was custom cut to accomdate a built in drip pan. A custom cabinet door was crafted and attached to the kegerator to perfectly match the other cabinets. Opposite the keg taps the granite was also cut to fit the round stainless steel bar sink.
Hanging glasses, tiered liquor shelves and glass door cabinets are all illuminated by TASK LED lights. Like the kitchen, these lights were setup with multiple zones.
Crown molding was installed on top of the cabinets for a high-end look to contrast with the white painted ceiling carsiding. All of the hardware is a unique brushed, stainless steel featuring a checkerboard pattern.
Truly this home is now one-of-a-kind and the homeowners love cooking and entertaining in their new space.
